Franck Muller Round Rainbow Skeleton
Nature has constantly been the source of inspiration for Franck Muller. The acres of woodlands surrounding our manufacture in Genthod have shaped our designs, from the classic to the unconventional. The latest creation by our watchmakers celebrates the chorus of colours found in nature, combined with the traditional art of skeletonisation by our craftsmen.
Like many watchmakers, Franck Muller’s beginnings were rooted in the restoration of classic timepieces. This early part of his career defined our appreciation of classic watchmaking. While the house of Franck Muller has introduced numerous innovations, our artisans and watchmakers still uphold many of the principles of classic watch design in the Round collection.
The design of the Round case is inspired by the pebble. The gentle rounded bezel and caseback, along with a polished and softly curved case middle and lugs, follow the natural curves of the pebbles found in the streams around Genthod, smoothened over time by running water.
The Round Skeleton watch is a timeless classic from Franck Muller, powered by our sophisticated FM 1740-RS calibre that’s shaped to fit the case. The FM 1740 is one of our most reliable movements, powered by stacked twin barrels that offer up to 7 days of power reserve. It bears a high efficiency escapement that ensures great precision while running at a steady 2.5Hz. The bridges of the FM 1740-RS movement are carefully skeletonised in the Round Skeleton model, to reveal the entire gear train running gracefully from the front of the watch. Every part of the movement is finished by hand, from the chamfered bridges that are satin-polished, to the screws that hold the movement in place.
Introducing the Rainbow Skeleton
This year, we’re introducing a gem-set version of the Round Skeleton with a rainbow bezel. On the case are 48 baguette-cut, multi-coloured gems arranged in a channel setting. Ranging from pink sapphires to tsavorites to rubies, each stone is carefully chosen by our gemmologists to deliver the declination of colours on the bezel. Their colour and quality have to be consistent across the entire range of stones, and the size of each stone must be the same to ensure homogeneity and enable the light to cascade off each stone facet equally brilliantly.
On each lug are 16 stones that follow the same colour declination of the rainbow, creating a scintillating splash across the watch. Paired with an alligator leather strap and gem-set buckle, the 42mm Round Rainbow Skeleton is a dazzling timepiece for both men and women.
